Moroccan Interior and an Indian Paravent?

I love to play with images and ideas. So what do you think of this combination? Yes - it's opulent but what else would you expect in a luxury home, an old Moroccan palazzo with exquisite interior? An intimate chamber not for the visitor to be seen but only for the home owner to enjoy. And behind that paravent? Secrets - only secrets... and stories from Arabian nights...

Ancient Cultures in a modern Living Room...

Silk paintings about ancient cultures fit very well into a modern interieur. When we think of even much older art such as the cave paintings which have been found in Australia we realize that their forms seem to be timeless.

In the Sunroom - a handcarved Triptych

This is one of my most beautiful wood carving pieces: Krishna and Radha, an Indian inspired triptych. I placed it in several environments - just in order to test how it would look like. Now judge for yourself....

An opulent silk Art Quilt in a Designer's Living Room

There are a lot of people who do prefer the minimalist interior of their home. Whether it's an overall aversion against all kinds of ornamentation, a longing for being trendy (whatever that might mean) or simply someone with a love for straight "things" without any curlicues - there is a demand out there for the pure. The problem is that these kinds of rooms often appear cold, repellent and even hostile. The solution for this is to offer at least one counterpiece.
What I mean with this, is this example. A room furnished with only the basics and then a piece of art on the wall that seems to be quite the contrary: opulent and decorative. But in this context it does not change the demand for a reduced interieur at all but it offers a place for the eyes to rest on and feel comfortable.

Silk Paintings in an old Moroccan City Villa...

You know my faible for Moroccan interior. It's the earth colours that make me feel so very well and I think many other people feel the same. So I played again and mounted my silk paintings into this lovely interior...
Check them out on my website if you like

Machu Picchu in a Study...

This is quite a colour intense study. Still the silk painting on the wall, Machu Picchu, would be a nice complementary object. Interesting was, that the original image showed a similar, abstract painting with similar red hues...
Clck here for the details of the silk painting.

Celts - a silk Painting for a modern Dining Room

To my own big surprise I have realized that nearly all of my silk paintings go really well in nearly any interior. Depending on the theme and content they can either be hung as they are, in a gallery wrapped setting, which means they are mounted on stretcher bars, sides are clean and painted as well, or they could be mounted in voluptious frames - as shown in several examples. Due to the medium - silk - this is absolutely applicable.

If you would like to check out on details please see here (The painting itself has been sold though - the image is only an example to give you an idea).

Starting your own private Gallery....

How about starting your own little gallery with silk paintings similar to these (two of them are sold)? This could be a blast for your house. Even for the foyer of an office building this would add elegance and atmosphere...just an idea.

The paintings here are (from left to right) Machu Picchu, Celts and Mesopotamia. Details for Celts can be seen here, for Mesopotamia here

Silk Painting in opulent Environment

This one was fun to create and more or less a test how it would look like. The original image source is from my Moroccan Interiors again, one of my favourite books. I just wanted to see whether my silk paintings could be framed in an opulent frame such as this one and how it would look like. I like the result and if I hadn't tried this collage I would never have known.

Please check out the details of this silk scroll here.

Living Room or Loggia in white...

And here is the counterpart - everything held in white so that the paintings can fully develop their colours. This could be part of a large living room, or a loggia leading into a conservatory...
From the Minerals series: Aquamarine and Tourmaline I - links will lead you to the detail photos.

A modern Living Room with a black Wall

How about this one? For people with a distinctive preference for clear form and not too much stuff on the wall...
Sometimes less is more.
Details of the acrylic painting titled Aquamarine can be seen here

Cosy Moroccan Room could be in any old House..

How cosy can a room be? I think this is a place where anyone would love to hang around, having a nice book on the lap, a glass of wine and enjoy a spare hour or two...
The room itself was not my idea but from one of my favourite books Moroccan Interiors. I thought - why not try this environment for two of my silk paintings from the Magic Symbols series (details can be checked out on my website under this link and this one) as a potential interior decoration. What do you think?

Sitting in the Loggia in perfect Harmony...

Sounds like the beginning of a song - doesn't it? Tagträumer
But seriously - I am totally in love with this designer sofa because it somehow has panache. Imagine some nice music playing in the background, reading a magazine while waiting for someone... The adjacent room is the conservatory with lots of orchids and nice green plants - so you are just having a little break until you continue your tasks....
And btw - the painting on the wall is Tourmaline II, an acrylic painting and you can see the details here

A Lounge or Waiting Room with Ambience...

Sitting in a lounge here and hearing soft classical music, potentially the water music by Smetana would be nice - wouldn't it? Why not using an ambience like this at the doctor's waiting room. Maybe this would destroy your bad vibes...
And while you are sitting there you could study the details of this silk scroll with all the tiny little beads...

Potentials of a Lounge - dipped in warm Colours

This acrylic painting Tourmaline II from the Minerals series is a little jewel because its colours start to glow with the right light. Placed on a wall like this one is just the perfect complement. And a modern designer chair like the one below is a great place to wait for someone...
